Amuneke named Tanzania coach

Former Nigeria winger, Emmanuel Amuneke, has been named Tanzania national team coach on a two-year deal.

The 1994 African Cup of Nations winner was unveiled at a press conference by Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president, Wallace Karia on Monday in capital city, Dar es Salaam.

 

Karia said Amuneke will coach the senior team and all youth teams, assisted by local trainers for each category.

“Amuneke will be with us for two years but the contract is renewable if he meets the set targets,” said Karia.

The former Sporting and Barcelona winger, said that Tanzania like other African countries are full of talents but lacks good organization something that he will do for the country.

 

“All I need is support from all stakeholders to move Tanzania football to another step, it is possible because we have talents all of Africa,” said the former Zamalek winger.

Until recently, Amuneke was at the helm of Sudanese side, Al Khartoum Al Watan.

 

The 47-year old previously coached Al Hazim of Saudi Arabia as an assistant, Julius Berger and Ocean Boys of Nigeria and including a three year deal with the Nigeria U-17 te
