The Greater Accra Regional Minister has echoed government aggressiveness of creating an enabling environment for private businesses to grow in cycle with the country’s national development agenda in quest to improve the living condition of the ordinary Ghanaians.
Therefore urged businesses in the country to take advantage of the sound economic foundations the government is putting in place to guarantee good returns on investment and commended Management of Papaye Fast Food Ltd for their immense efforts in complementing government’s efforts at creating avenues for job creation for the youth as well as the growing the hospitality industry.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Ishmael Ashitey made these remarks in a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Minister Elizabeth Sackey at the official opening of Papaye Fast Foods Limited at Lapaz, suburb in Accra.
According to him, industrialization and the hospitality industry is one of its major strategies for economic development and would do all in their power to encourage public-private sector collaboration to achieve government dream.
Acknowledging that, Ghana’s food and hospitality sector has witnessed tremendous growth and keen competition over the past years in the country.
Adding that, “ensuring growth and sustainability has prompted institutions in the industry to devise innovative strategies which will enable them to entice and ultimately retain their valued customers.
However, Mr. Ashitey indicated that, government is aware of the challenges that confront businesses in the country and as a result, is creating the institutional framework for businesses to flourish in Ghana by addressing these constraints.
The Regional Minister also used the occasion to entreat management to put in a conscious effort to assure staff of good working condition and welfare believing it will make them more productive to achieve the purpose of its establishment.
And also advised staff to strive to give out their best to increase productivity and profitability in order to assure themselves of permanent jobs and more opportunities for the unemployed youth to help government curb the unemployment situation in the country.
On his part, the Executive Chairman of Papaye Fast Food Ltd, Dr. Samir Kalmoni revealed that, currently, four hundred and fifty (450) people are gainfully employed as they work diligently to continue to expand to enroll more youth on board by giving them descent work to earn a descent income.
Indicating that, over the past twenty five (25) years, Papaye has etched itself as the market leader in the fast food industry and attributed it to dint of strong discipline, quality and dedicated human resource.
Revealing that, Papaye since its existence have been adjudged the best food restaurant severally by the industry regulator- the Ghana Tourism Authority as well as received award for prompt payment of taxes and awards for being good corporate citizens.
Dr. Samir Kalmoni used the occasion to announce the company intentions to open another branch at the Bethel Emporium, Awudome, asuburb in Accra before the end of the year.
