The Nkwatia Presbyterian Senior High School was hit by heavy rains in the early hours of Tuesday, 20th of March leaving the only Dinning Hall of the school in ruins.
The Kwahu East District Chief Executive Officer (DCE), Mr. Isaac Agyapong and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) District Director, Mr. Felix Asomani Kesse together with the district NADMO team have visited the school to ascertain the extent of the damage and the assistance the school will need during this disaster period.
Interacting with the Headmistress and staff of the School, Mr. Isaac Agyapong assured them that, as a matter of urgency, the District Assembly and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Mr. Bryan Acheampong will assist them by providing roofing sheets for the re-roofing of the dinning hall.
No casualties were recorded, however the district NADMO teams have also promised to provide relief items to the students and the school as soon as possible.
Responding to the quick response from the DCE, NADMO and the MP after the disaster, the headmistress said the support will go a long way to relieve the burden of the school to put back the only dinning hall back in to shape. She was very thankfully for the support accorded the school in this time of dire need.
Meanwhile, the DCE advised the school authorities to plant more trees that will serve as windbreakers to prevent future disaster in case of any heavy downpour.
